Selladi tou Karamanli – Madari Fire Lookout Station Trail

Updated: Mar 17

The Selladi tou Karamanli – Madari Fire Lookout Station Trail is one of the most scenic hikes in the Troodos Mountains, combining forest landscapes with panoramic views across Cyprus.

Practical Information

Length: 3,8km – Linear

Estimated duration: 1.5 hours

Difficulty rate: 3

Starting point:

a) By car it’s 2 km after Saranti village towards Spilia village, at Selladi tou Karamalli location.

b) From the Madari fire lookout station. Access by car from the road Chandria – Polystypos.

This beautiful trail passes through a dense cedar forest, located roughly midway along the route, offering a refreshing and shaded section during the hike.

Along the way, you will be rewarded with stunning views over Morfou Bay, the Mesaoria plain and the Troodos mountain range, especially on clear days. If you visit when the weather is cloudy, the experience becomes even more unique, as parts of the trail can feel like you are walking through clouds.

The trail also connects with other well-known routes in the area, including Doxa Soi o Theos, Moutti tis Choras and Teisia tis Madaris, making it a great option for more experienced hikers looking to explore further.

The trail is considered moderately difficult due to:

  • continuous uphill and downhill sections

  • uneven and rocky terrain

  • steep parts along the route

During the period from autumn to early spring, the path may become slippery after rainfall, so proper footwear is recommended.

Even if you feel tired towards the end, it is well worth continuing to the Madari fire lookout station. The final uphill section leads to one of the most impressive viewpoints in the area, offering panoramic views that make the effort worthwhile.
