Length: 1,5km - Linear
Estimated duration: 45 minutes
Difficulty rate: 2
Starting point: The new water reservoir of the village Potamitissa
If you’re looking for a gentle walk where nature, views and village life meet, the Diosmides-Geratzia trail in Potamitissa is just right. Recently developed, this nature walk offers a variety of scenery without demanding steep climbs or rugged terrain. The path begins at the new water reservoir on the outskirts of Potamitissa village, winds through the residential area of Pazinos, climbs briefly to the Skouri viewpoint, then ends in the Geratzia area along the main road from Potamitissa to Agridia. The trail is linear and easy to follow. It’s about 1.5 km in length and estimated walking time is around 45-50 minutes at a casual pace.
What makes this trail especially rewarding is its setting. You’ll pass through village outskirts, with gardens, local flora, occasional views, and smells of Mediterranean vegetation. The Skouri viewpoint provides a chance to stop and take in the landscape — olive, almond, walnut and fruit trees nearby, wildflowers, and that soft fragrance that comes after a dawn or after a rainfall. It’s perfect for those who want to slowly immerse themselves in Cyprus’s green heart without being on a serious hike.
The access is good and the trail is well marked. There are benches and small rest spots. If you go in warmer months, start early or later in the day so you enjoy more shade. Though the trail is short, it’s enough to walk thoughtfully, breathe deeply and soak up the colours, scents and ambient sounds of this area.
