In the Footsteps of Apostle Paul trail in Agios Pavlos

Length: 5 km

Estimated duration: 2.5 to 3 hours

Difficulty: Moderate, suitable for most active walkers

Starting point: Near Agios Pavlos village (location), Limassol district

If you are looking for a calm and inviting nature trail, the In the Footsteps of the Apostle Paul is a wonderful choice. It offers that perfect blend of nature and village charm that makes you slow down, notice the small details, and truly enjoy your time outside. The trail is considered moderate, so comfortable walking shoes and water are all you need, making it accessible to anyone who enjoys a steady pace and a mix of village and natural surroundings.

The trail begins just outside Agios Pavlos village and gently leads you downhill toward a small river. The section along the river is one of the most memorable parts of the walk. Tall trees and fallen leaves in rich autumn colours create a truly beautiful scenery, and when you add the sound of the flowing river, the whole scene becomes simply magical. This part of the trail leads you to the first bridge, offering a peaceful pause to appreciate the surroundings. The river is also home to crabs, and you will most probably see them.

About halfway along the trail you’ll reach a lovely picnic area called Stirakas picnic site. It’s one of those places where you can stop, feel the quiet, and enjoy a snack under the trees before moving on.

Throughout the trail, the terrain changes naturally between narrow dirt paths, wider tracks, short concrete bits, and small stretches of village road. The variety keeps things interesting while staying easy to follow. The route is well marked throughout, and there are benches and natural resting spots where you can pause and take a breather, with parts that offer beautiful views of Agios Pavlos and the surrounding countryside.

Near the end of the trail you have two options. You can either walk back the same way along the river path, or choose to return through the village roads. I chose the village return, which includes a gentle uphill walk but gives you a glimpse of everyday village life through its calm narrow streets.

The name of the trail reflects a local tradition that connects this landscape to the journeys of Apostle Paul during his time in Cyprus. While the walk focuses mostly on nature and scenery, this historical layer adds a special depth, reminding you that these paths have been used for many generations.

If you are exploring hikes in the Limassol district or simply want a peaceful adventure near a traditional village, this trail deserves a spot on your list. It is calm, simple, and quietly rewarding, the kind of walk you remember long after you leave.
