Trail Millomeris Waterfalls

Updated: Mar 30

The Millomeris Waterfall trail begins with a scenic downhill walk through dense greenery in the Troodos Mountains. For the first part of the route, the path follows the Krios (Cold) River, where the soothing sound of flowing water accompanies you along the way. After a short uphill section, the trail opens up to reveal beautiful mountain views towards the south.

Practical information:

  • Length: 1,2km - Linear

  • Estimated duration: 30 minutes

  • Difficulty rate: 3

  • Starting point: Between Platres church (Faneromenis Church) and Platres center.

You can also get to the waterfall by car through a dirt road from the main road Platres - Limassol about 1 km. after Tall Tree (Psilo Dendro), but you will miss all the beauty this trail has to offer.

The name Millomeris comes from the Cypriot words “millos,” which means wet, and “meros,” which means place. The waterfall got this name because it is tucked away in a shady spot that doesn’t get direct sunlight, so it always stays cool and damp. A few years ago it was difficult to reach, but now a proper nature trail and road make it much easier.

At 15 meters high, Millomeris is one of the tallest natural waterfalls in Cyprus. It is just outside the village of Platres, and the walk to it is about 1.2 km long. Most people take around 30 to 40 minutes to reach it. The path is not hard, but it can be rocky in places, so good walking shoes are best.

The Millomeris Waterfall looks different depending on the season, making it a beautiful place to visit all year round. In spring, especially after rainfall, the waterfall is at its strongest and most impressive, while in summer the water flow is lighter but still absolutely worth seeing. At the base of the waterfall, a small natural pool forms where the water collects. Many visitors enjoy dipping their feet in the refreshing water, and some even take a quick swim, although the water remains very cold even during the warmer months.

Along the Millomeris trail, you walk through pine trees, wild plants, and seasonal flowers, creating a peaceful hiking experience surrounded by nature in the Troodos Mountains.

To enjoy the waterfall without the crowds, it is best to visit early in the morning or outside the busy summer weekends, when the trail is quieter and more relaxing.
