The island of Cyprus is dotted with small but enchanting waterfalls, hidden away among the lush forests and mountain landscapes of the Troodos range. Some like Caledonia and Millomeris, are well known and often on visitor itineraries, but many others remain peaceful secrets waiting to be discovered.
One such quiet gem is the Kalonomatis Waterfalls, a beautiful and lesser‑known destination that deserves a place on your list of nature escapes. This enchanting spot is just a few metres from the Kalonomatis picnic site on the old Kampos–Potamou road, and you reach the falls by following a short downhill path on the left.
I was lucky enough to visit in November, when the area was blooming with cyclamen, and it felt like a secret haven. The water flows gently over the rocks, creating a serene, meditative soundtrack as you explore the surrounding forest or simply sit and soak up the peace. Along the way, the path is lined with trees, shrubs, and seasonal flowers, giving you a real sense of the rich biodiversity tucked away here.
While Kalonomatis might not be as dramatic or tall as some of the more famous Troodos waterfalls, its tranquil atmosphere and easy access make it a favourite for anyone who loves quiet nature spots and simple beauty.
